Welcome everyone! I am so honored that Pat Wys asked me to be a part of her blog tour for her newly released book "Knockout Neutrals"!
I came to know Pat a couple of years ago at market, and we hit it off from the get go! Could it be because we were both from the South (Georgia, Louisiana)? Could it be that we were both former teachers? (first grade for the both of us!) Could it be that we both share a love for quilting and being Martingale authors? (hmmm could be!) Could it be that we are both staunch supporters of SEC football? (never mind the fact that LSU happens to be the better team !!!). Could it be that - - - oh well, never mind! It could be any of those things, but the truth is, we just plain old hit it off from the moment we met. So when Pat asked me if I would be part of her blog tour to celebrate her new book, there was no way I was going to say no!!!
A few weeks ago I was lucky to be in Georgia teaching at the Quilt Guild of the Southern Crescent (hi girls!!!). Guess who picked me up at the airport?
Yep - that's right - it was Pat! She whisked me off for a tour of fabulous Atlanta quilt shops, then back to her home where I'd be staying for a few days. When we settled down in the den after a fabulous dinner, this was on the coffee table:
Well I have to tell ya, I've been known to talk a few ears off in my day. But the moment I spied this book, I was speechless. I have to tell ya folks, this is one of the most wonderful quilt books I have ever put my hands on. The quilts are stunning - absolutely stunning - - well, here - just take a look at a few yourself:
Uh Huh!!! See? What did I tell ya??? Gorgeous, right? Stunning, right? From the front cover to the back, every quilt was just as beautiful as the next. I was mezmerized. Beyond in LOVE with her book. But tired. Soooo tired A day of airport travel, Atlanta interstate traffic (I'll never fuss about Baton Rouge traffic ever again LOL) and shop hopping had left this girl whooped. So up the stairs of Pat's home and off to my bedroom suite I went, just thinking about her fabulous book. And look what greeted me on the bed:
Be. Still. My. Heart. Here in all it's glory was "Back Porch Pillow" from her book right there on my bed. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Needless to say, I slept like a baby that night - even though I had dreams of squishing that very same pillow into my suitcase for a sneak trip home with me!!! But I didn't. I wanted to - but I didn't. I was a good girl. This time!
So in closing - I've got to tell ya - - RUN, don't walk - RUN to your nearest quilt shop and pick up your copy of Knockout Neutrals. You won't be sorry. As for myself, I plan to make my own "Back Porch Pillow" for my first project from this book. It's so special to me. Could be 'cause it has a little to do with this:
a whole lotta this:
And a few days of friendship that made memories to last a lifetime??? Could be . . .
So - tell me what YOU think about Pat's awesome book, and you'll have a chance to win your very own e-book copy! Just leave me a comment between now and Saturday, November 9th, and we'll randomly pick a winner!
With a warm heart,
Kathy
Allow me to the first! The pillow on the bed made me go "whoa!"
As a collector of neutrals, I am both impressed and inspired by the photos you are showing here in this post. I wish I could've sat on that patio and sipped what looks like sangria and gotten the opportunity to interview this quilter.
Wonderful-looking book..... love the limited color-schemes.
Two thumbs up..... and looking forward to seeing you again next Saturday!

I'm with you Kathy -- one of the best books I've purchased in a long time. I too wanted to run right to the quilting studio and start making one of the projects. But knowing which was my favorite and what to start first was the trouble! Love, love, love this book.

What a great post. I would love to have Pat come help me decorate my home after I make many quilts, pillows and more using her books. Such an inviting home, just as heartwarming as Pat is in real life.

It was fun to hear your story of how you two hit it off so quickly. Sometimes friends are made that quick.
I love the idea of a more neutral quilt, balance all the crazy colorful modern quilts, and these designs are beautiful.
